From GPS position to a useful fleet picture
A vehicle tracking system combines a device in the vehicle, a mobile-data connection and software that turns reports into maps and journeys. Chicane supports live tracking, journey replay, enter/exit geofences and on-site/off-site visits. Access to features and retained history depends on the selected plan.
For fleet managers, the useful questions go beyond where a vehicle is now: where it stopped, how far it travelled, how long it idled and when it needs attention. Chicane includes journey, mileage, idle and driver-behaviour reports, with on-screen, PDF and Excel outputs and scheduled reporting. Fleet IQ Score and Driving Dynamics add further reporting context.
Choose hardware around the vehicle and the job
An OBD tracker, wired tracker and battery-powered asset tracker suit different installation and reporting requirements. We supply devices from Teltonika, Queclink, Jimi IoT, ATIOT and Vital Telematics, alongside our CM107 and CM212 trackers running CMS custom firmware. Check the exact device, connectivity and firmware before choosing an installation.
CM107 offers wired ignition, a shared analogue/digital input and an internal output. CM212 connects through two leads to the vehicle battery and uses a compatible Bluetooth relay for output control. Advanced Track recording and control features depend on model, firmware, licensing and peripherals; the tracker guide documents current qualification limits.
Add video, CAN data and tachograph workflows where supported
Supported cameras can bring live view, recorded media and event context into Chicane. Media Middleware handles supported device video protocols, while TachoServer supports remote tachograph downloads and analysis. These are hardware-dependent integrations: a basic location tracker does not automatically provide camera footage, CAN measurements or tachograph files.
Manufacturer data can complement the tracker too. The BMW CarData owner connection presents available mileage, fuel, charge and service readings separately, with their source timestamps. It does not overwrite tracker positions or journey history.

Questions about vehicle & fleet tracking
Can I use the vehicle tracking platform under my own brand?
Yes. Chicane supports white-label, multi-tenant web, PWA and branded Android/iOS app builds. Branding, permissions and the required deployment are agreed for your service.
Does every GPS tracker provide fuel or CAN data?
No. Fuel and CAN reports require compatible hardware, vehicle support and the necessary measurements. We check the exact device and vehicle requirements when specifying an integration.
Is fleet tracking the same as an insurance-approved tracker?
No. Fleet tracking describes operational functions. Insurance acceptance depends on the exact security product, installation, monitoring service and the insurer's requirements.
